Bible for kids

We bought a Bible for C for one of her Christmas gifts, and I have been so pleased with it. It’s called International Children’s Bible, New Century Version, and is published by Thomas Nelson. She and I read from it everyday for part of her Bible lesson in school, and it is so readable for her. It is not uncommon for her to pick it up and read it on her own, which thrills me, of course! I highly recommend this version of the Bible for kids.

As an example, John 3:16 reads like this, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.”

The back cover says that it is written for a 3^rd grade level, as compared to the NIV which is written at a 7^th grade level. I think that seems accurate, but would also make a good read-aloud for younger kids. It includes footnotes, a dictionary and maps. My only regret is that we bought the paperback and the cover is not going to last as long as we’d like it to!
